Because of my own personal health struggles and my journey towards wellness, I am as passionate about health as I am Intuitive and spiritual connections. If you have read My Real Story, then you know that my psychic and spiritual awakening coincided with a crash in my physical health. I don’t find that to be a coincidence. In fact, I am grateful for the illness that altered my life and changed it such dramatic ways. Despite these positive benefits, physical illness is still an overwhelming challenge that I wouldn’t wish upon anyone. As a result, if I can share one something that helps others to improve or prevent illness, then I want to do so.
It’s important to know that I don’t claim to be a health guru, a doctor, or any type of trained health specialist. Like my Psi functioning, what I share comes from firsthand experience and the school of hard-knocks. Sometimes this type of wisdom is better than conventional training, not because conventional is bad, but because I believe experience is the greatest teacher of all, and also because sometimes our personal experience counters conventional wisdom.
For example, if I had followed mainstream beliefs regarding psychic abilities, I would not be utilizing them they way that I am today, and my life would be far less rich because of it. In the same way, I spent years listening to conventional wisdom regarding nutrition and health, but with no relief of my symptoms. I thought I was eating well and doing all of the ‘right things,’ but I still continued to struggle. I think my medical providers believed me to be a hypochondriac when in my heart I knew things just weren’t right. Nevertheless, I kept listening to conventional wisdom, and as a result, I kept meeting with the same poor results.
I don’t want to discredit science or even mainstream thought. When it comes to health and nutrition, I am quite certain that there are plenty of people who find the current wisdom works well for them. That is perfectly fine – if it’s working! The problem for me and for many others is that mainstream thought isn’t working for them – nutritionally and physically, but also psychically and perhaps even spiritually.
So what happens when what we are doing isn’t working?
I think we all know that we have to make a change, and if we are someone willing to make that change (since far too many are not), the question then becomes, ‘What changes do we need to make?’
I don’t think the answer to this is simple. I know it wasn’t for me. I was more than willing to make any of the changes necessary in order to regain my health, but I just didn’t know what to do, and when we don’t know what to do, we tend to rely on modern medicine and prevailing thought to guide us. This typically involves medicine, eating right, exercise, getting a good night’s sleep, and making other positive life choices, but what happens when these fail us? Then what?
If what you are doing is NOT working, then don’t give up and simply accept your situation as insurmountable. It simply means you are going to have to find the answers that will work for you. You may have to find them on your own and the answers may not come from traditional sources.
For example, in order to heal, you may need to make an internal change – mentally and/or emotionally. Our thoughts and feelings have a true biological effect on the physical body. You may need to stop accepting the situation and start taking positive action. You can’t wait for your doctor to heal you or give you the answers. You may need to learn, study, and research outside of conventional wisdom. Your doctor may lack the tools or perhaps science doesn’t yet have the means to assist you, but this does not mean an answer isn’t available. It means you may have to find other people enduring what you are enduring and to share stories and swap insights. It may mean that you will have to wait until the science can catch up to your issues but that doesn’t make you powerless. It may mean that you will be the one to find an answer to share with the world. It may mean that your path to wellness has things to teach you and therefore exists for a reason, but it doesn’t have to mean it will last forever. It may mean that there is a spiritual purpose for your illness and you should find it. It may mean you will have to heal spiritually before you can heal physically, but then again, it could just be about poor life choices. Only you can explore what it ‘might be’ and how you can resolve it. No one can do this for you – not friends or family and not a doctor or science – just you!
I am someone who has had to deal with intense periods of depression and severe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) – a massively debilitating health issue that people seriously disregard and misunderstand. Thankfully, I no longer deal with any depression (dietary related). I have also learned good skills and habits to manage my CFS and have found some semblance of a normal life again.
I have had a lifetime of hormonal imbalances with early onset menopause at the age of 30 and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis at the age of 42. I have found a balance with both of these through lifestyle and nutrition as well as conventional thyroid medication.
In 2008 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia which I now suspect was a misdiagnosis and more associated with the undiagnosed CFS and thyroid issues. I do however deal with daily back pain and body tenderness but I manage these through mild stretching and correcting posture related issues. I also previously dealt with joint pain, sometimes also associated with fibromyalgia but which I no longer have thanks to better nutrition and minor supplementation.
I used to experience frequent agonizing migraines that would sometimes cause me to pass out. We never went anywhere without my medical file so it could be easily reviewed during my frequent trips to the emergency room. Once there, I was pumped up with a concoction of painkillers and then sent home without any reason for the cause of the migraines or any hope of a cure. I thankfully had a prescription to use whenever I felt a migraine coming on. Sometimes they worked and sometimes they didn’t. I was grateful for those medications that eased my pain but it was a change of nutrition that now has me migraine free and I no longer utilize any medications for their prevention.
I have not had cancer or a life-threatening illness or even an incurable disease, so I count my blessings and give praise to those who courageously deal with these intense physical challenges (like my mother and two of my aunt’s), but this does not discount my own form of suffering or struggle for well-being, health, and healing. I have not held a traditional job since 2007 and many days only had enough energy to sit and stare at the walls. I was robbed of a good portion of my middle years due to extreme fatigue and depression and those years are something that I will never get back. Yes, within it I found a blessing – spiritual awareness, psychic awareness, the healing of my past, a sense of self, a sense of purpose, as well as time for study and personal development. Despite these blessings, I was still stuck in a body that was far from functional.
So why as a psi practitioner do I talk about physical health?
First, because I know firsthand the struggle, and if I can share some portion of my journey that will help you to live a healthier and happier life then I am glad to be of service. I know what it means to feel helpless, weak, tired, angry, upset, without a quality of life, suicidal, overweight, tired, stressed, and in pain, and I wouldn’t wish these on anyone!
Second, because I believe there can be purpose in our illness & physical trials and tribulations, and if we can see those, perhaps they will help us to heal and strengthen our fortitude and perseverance.
Third, because I believe it is important to express that healing can happen in the strangest of ways and may have nothing to do with modern medicine or what we believe is the right thing to do. For example, for years I was eating the ‘healthy way.” Whole grains, legumes, and organic veggies, but come to find out, these were actually causing me serious digestive issues. I was doing what the prevailing thought of the day was telling me was right, only to find that it wasn’t right for me. Sometimes we have to get outside of the box and outside of what we think is right and discover what’s really true for us. If it isn’t working you have to do something else!
The fourth reason I talk about health is because I found something extraordinary emerged from my physical challenges, and that was my ability to psychically pick up on certain physical aspects of others – most especially that of nutrition & diet. As time progressed, it seemed the sensitivity of my body overlapped into my psychic work, and because of my extensive reading and studying on health related topics, I had developed a vocabulary that could allow me to sometimes psychically assist others with that information.
The fifth reason I address phsyical health as a psychic is because if others would develop their own psi-functoning they could use the ability to assist them in learning what foods, supplements, and other things in life are good for them. This can be done psychically be learning to detect the subtle energy of items and how they resonate with you. Granted this can take a little time to develop but if it clues you in to those things that are good for you and those that are bad for you then isn’t it worth the time and effort to learn the skills?
The sixth and final reason I talk about healing and physical wellness is because of energy healing. I once poo-pooed this concept, but over the years and in the course of my exploration, I now realize there are numerous scientific studies proving the existence of energy or intention-based healing. This includes physical healing, not just emotional and spiritual healing. There are a wide range of energy modalities that can be learned and developed to help with our physical healing or folks we can utilize to assist our healing process. So if we are suffering without resolution, then it seems we have nothing to lose by studying the science and methods behind energy healing. I actually have a list below of some of the many alternative healing modalities available as of the time of this posting. Not all are energy based but many are or involve a multi-modal approach. You can paste & copy the list and check some of them out.
So I hope this post will help you to not accept your current fate with a sense of doom. Don’t feel defeated. No matter the cause for your poor health or unwanted physical illness, there is still so much mainstream knowledge doesn’t know. Don’t let yourself fall into a trap of non-healing because no one has the answers you need. You have to go out and get them for yourself and then do the work!
Most of all, be ready & willing to stop digging and get to climbing up towards the life you want for yourself. You can read that post HERE!
