Want To Know Your Life Purpose? Understand How It Works First – Your Purpose Evolves Only As You Evolve!

All Posts, Optimizing Well-Being

I was chatting with a friend the other day and mentioned how sometimes during a session with a Sitter that their life purpose will emerge – or at least a glimpse of it. My friend seemed a bit surprised that it wasn’t this elaborate grand picture. As a result, in this post, I explain how and why our ‘life purpose’ actually unfolds and evolves as opposed to being revealed to us in a state of fullness.

I think the best example of how our life purpose is revealed is by illustrating it in terms of raising children. When kids are young, we encourage them to play and have fun and to explore. As they do, we realize that certain things will challenge them, while others will come naturally to them. Ideally, we will encourage their strengths while at the same time offering them support and guidance for those things that are challenging and difficult. As we notice our children growing and evolving, we continue to guide and steer them in this way, offering new insights and awareness to support their path.

Ideally, we wouldn’t say to our 2 or 3-year-old child, “You are going to be a great golfer and I am going to make you one no matter what.” Ok, so maybe this works in a few instances: However, for most kids, this notion of a forced path probably won’t work. Not only do we rob the child of free will and choice, but this decision may not be fitting for their actual abilities or desires.

When it comes to getting spiritual or Psi-based guidance, we may falsely assume that we will be shown our purpose so that we will know ‘this is it.’ We might think we would prefer it this way so that we can just jump right in and get to work, but let’s examine some complications for this way of thinking.

First of all, like children, telling us our full purpose robs us of our free will. It stifles our freedom and doesn’t allow us to explore, learn, or even experience life in all its fullness. These are all vital steps to helping us know ourselves and to learn valuable lessons and skills – many of which will support our greater purpose but still must be learned through experience. By exploring and living our life, as opposed to having it dictated to us, we have the freedom to be in the moment.

Second of all, our purpose unfolds as we unfold. This means that the unfolding depends on us. Many of us may walk around and mumble to ourselves, ‘if only I knew my life purpose,’ but have we asked to have it revealed to us? Have we made any effort to understand our current situation and what we need to learn and gain from it? Maybe our situation isn’t ideal – in fact, I’ll bet it isn’t, but to fulfill our life purpose we have to be willing to remove and overcome whatever it is that’s keeping us from that purpose. In this way, spiritual or psi-based information is the parent to us – offering encouragement, insight, and support to help us fulfill our purpose. However, if we aren’t doing our part, as any parent knows, we can’t make a child do something they don’t want to do.

Third, if we are working to find our life purpose and feel we are being supported by Higher Guidance, then what we are being advised to do today is indeed relevant to our life purpose. It may not feel like it: Nevertheless, it is an important step to move us towards that larger purpose. Otherwise, Higher Guidance wouldn’t be telling us to address it. Let’s look at our golfing example again for how this step works.

Let’s say we decide we really like golf and believe it is our life purpose. We go to a golf teacher and ask her to help us fulfill our purpose. Obviously the teacher can’t do the work for us, so she watches our swing and notices er have a minor issue that needs to be corrected. The teacher shows us what to do and then sends us home to practice. We feel a bit let down by this. After all, we wanted to get out there and win the big game, but what the teacher knows is that we can’t fulfill that purpose until we master the game, and this means mastering ourself.

In this way, Higher Guidance will send us off to do some practice or personal work that we feel might have nothing to do with our purpose. It probably won’t even make sense to us and will feel far removed from any grand design for our life. Unfortunately, this is the exact opposite of what is actually happening. We are being led to do this practice and work before we can go to the next step. This is why we need to have trust and faith, even when it doesn’t make sense. It’s not that we aren’t being led to our purpose, because we are. We just have to follow the path that Higher Guidance seems to know will us there.

So let’s look at a fourth aspect of knowing our full life purpose. Let’s say we do master the game of golf, become a world champion, and then feel fulfilled. With our purpose now ‘fulfilled,’ suddenly we wake up and say, “Uh-oh, I fulfilled my purpose, and yet here I am, so now what?” Then we have the startling revelation that the next step is to take our golf skills and help others become a master of their own game. Suddenly we have a new life purpose!

Now, we might wonder to ourselves, why not just tell us that we were supposed to teach golf to other people? Wouldn’t that have been far easier?

Perhaps, or maybe would it have felt overwhelming, massive, and driven us to be a teacher before we were a master?

In this way, our ‘purpose’ is often as simple as, what’s the next step in my life. Granted that’s not very glamorous, however, it is Divinely perfect. If we can establish this sense of ‘what’s the next step,’ and then know that we are always being guided to our purpose, then we’re on our way. But remember, our purpose will always be evolving and unfolding based on our present growth and personal desires – but also on our willingness to do the work and to allow that purpose to manifest.

We can all discover and live our life’s purpose – if we chose to do so – but we have to be willing to let it unfold, and to also remember that it’s always evolving as we evolve.

Does this mean that everyone’s life or purpose will have a happy ending? Sadly I am not sure if this is true or not. What I can say is that many of the departed loved ones I have connected with admit that if they had made better and/or different choices, their life would have turned out differently. This is not always the case, but the majority of the time this is true. This means that salvation and redemption happens here and now, on earth, and is based on our decisions and choices and not on outside circumstances or a lack of knowing our purpose.

I’ll close by saying that our life purpose can be revealed to us today but it may be as simple as ‘stop feeling guilty for things you can’t control.’ If we scoff and snort that such advice is beneath us, then most likely we’ll Miss the greater purpose awaiting us. This IS your life purpose – at this moment – but it does not mean it is the culmination of it. It means we have to do this BEFORE the next step of our purpose can be revealed to us. So don’t sneer and feel disappointed – just get to work andapply the Guidance put in front of you.

Unlike earthly parents, I believe that Higher Guidance (however you define it) doesn’t make mistakes. If we can conquer our current purpose, then a new purpose will be put forth for us to attain. Sadly, for some, just getting past the first simple instructions is often challenging enough in and of itself. So don’t put down the golf club saying that the teacher’s advice is stupid and beneath us. Just trust that based on their expertise, they know something we don’t. All we need to do is get to work with the purpose before us so that new ones can be revealed!

Like the winding path that is shown in the photo attached to this post, we must walk our way into our purpose and let the beauty of it surround us!

Cheers & Wellness,

Carol
