This Sunday I felt compelled to address the value of you actually developing your own personal connection with whatever you deem as a Higher Power. This is the real New Year’s resolution we should all make and vow to keep.

As we approach 2021, many of us start to think about implementing new habits for the upcoming year – fitness, nutrition, meditation, career, & family. These are all wonderful goals and we should think about them regularly. After all, intention sets the tone and is the foundation of manifestation and Psi-reception. However, as we think about these new goals, I would like to propose that we also think about a rather different type of goal – that of spirituality & the role of a Higher Power in our lives (even if that Higher Power is simply the nature of science and the vastness of the universe).

So, I’m not talking about the need to get religion or even to start believing in a given form of God. What I’m talking about is the ability to ASK to personally be shown what your goals should be and then to LISTEN and TRUST what is given.

Far too often we have an agenda for our life, and that’s all well and fine, but from personal experience, I have learned first-hand that if we really want to live the life we are here to live, then at some level we need to turn to a Higher Source that knows better than our current perceptions. Whether you call that source Divine, Gaia, Buddha, God, Personal or Uinversal Consciousness, The Higher Self, The Universe, or even just the Great Unifying Principle, the label is irrelevant. What matters is that you are reaching out for expanded guidance. This is all that really matters.

So let’s look at three powerful things you should establish for this year’s resolutions.

STEP ONE – ASK: When we ask our Higher Source for guidance, we’ll most likely get very different answers for our New Year’s resolutions than we’d get on our own, but isn’t this the point?   For example, never in my wildest dreams did I believe or even consider the idea of developing my psychic abilities. This was a vision that only someone wiser and more knowledgeable than I could have foreseen for me. Not to mention the countless ways that I have been guided to smaller insights affecting my health and overall personal life.

Just remember, don’t ask for things that you want but rather ask what you need to know that’s for your best good. It’s such a simple concept really and yet one we often neglect to put into action. If you feel any resistance to this simple resolution, then ask yourself why you think your Higher Source would share anything with you that wouldn’t be in your best and highest good. And remember, you always get to choose what you do with that information so you’re still always in control over what you receive.

STEP TWO – LISTEN: Once we ask for the insights and goals we need to achieve, the second thing we need to do is LISTEN. But how do we do this? After all, asking is easy, but how do we listen to guided perceptions from a source that we can’t even see? Ideally, we do this in our hearts and minds. This is the most intimate form of communication that I believe we can have with a Higher Source, but I also realize that it takes some time for us to evolve into this form of connection. Still, we all have the ability to receive hunches, have Intuitive insights, receive message-bearing dreams, and even to hear words or lyrics in our mind. Pay attention when these things happen as they may very well be the subtle voice of something beyond you, offering you a broader window into your true goals.

Another way to LISTEN is to ask for signs and symbols. These are a little less intimate but are still deeply personal and will occur in the world around you. For example, maybe you keep seeing the same animal or keep hearing a song playing in your head. Maybe a word or theme keeps repeating and you see this in road signs, books, or even movie titles. Perhaps objects keep showing up as if breadcrumbs lining the trail to your next step. Maybe someone says something to you and you feel like you’ve been Hit with a brick, or your body tingles when you hear it. These are all ways that we listen – by recognizing the signs & symbols around us. In this way, subtle perceptions can manifest in the world to reach you – through nature, people, objects, and events.

Our role in the LISTEN process is to pay attention. After all, this is what it means to listen – we are quiet and aware and capable of absorbing what’s being said. This doesn’t mean we don’t talk, act, or live an active life. It simply means we are always on the alert for those insights that come to us in small subtle yet powerful ways.

STEP THREE – TRUST: The last and final step to this process is to TRUST that what you’ve been given and heard/observed is valid and then to do it. This step tends to be the toughest of the three because of a variety of reasons; we don’t trust the information, we find the information is frightening or difficult to achieve, we don’t understand why the instructions are important, and/or we want what we want instead of what the Higher Source suggests – not to mention fear and trepidation over the source and whether or not it can be trusted.

Once again, I understand all of these phases as I myself have walked through them all. It took a lot of work to develop and enhance my awareness so that I could ASK, but more importantly to LISTEN. Once I did these two things, I next had to develop a level of TRUST in that connection as well as in the provided guidance and advice. This too is not always easy.

If, however, you are open and willing, I would encourage you to set one goal for yourself for this upcoming year – To ASK, LISTEN, & TRUST for expanded advice and insights.

Who other than the Greater Consciousness to highlight what you really need and what you are here to do?

Who better than God to show you what you first must conquer and overcome in order to heal, grow, and live a happy life?

Who better than The Universe to deliver you into the life, meaning, and purpose you are here to fulfill?

Who better than your Highest Self & all Cosmic Awareness?

You can set all of the goals you want for yourself, and while admirable and most likely from your heart, who better than the HIgher Power to truly guide you and then to lead you towards the fulfillment of those tasks.

Just remember, this Higher Source doesn’t save you or miraculously deliver you from your problems. We still have to do the work, but who better than this Source to show you what work you need to focus on and then to provide you with the resources to overcome those situations.

So, if I could personally suggest anything as being your resolutions for this year, it would be those of ASKING, LISTENING, & TRUSTING in your Higher Power. If you can do this, everything else will naturally fall into place, and you may even be surprised to discover things you never thought were possible.
