Three Indicators That You’re Not Honoring Your Uniqueness!

All Posts, For Budding Psychics, Optimizing Well-Being

We often look at someone else and try to follow their “model,” hoping that it will work for us. There’s nothing wrong with learning from others, but the real power comes when we honor the phrase, “Do You!” Here are three key indicators that you may not be honoring your unique spiritual design…

Let me give a brief example, then offer a few thoughts about how you can “Do You!”

Like many of my Intuitive colleagues, I have a deep desire to share my gifts, experiences, insights, and passions. In this community there seems to be the norm where people develop some control with their abilities, gain some confidence and accuracy, then branch out to do “readings.” This is a wonderful accomplishment, offering healing and guidance to those in need. The problem is, while many of my colleagues offered me their wisdom for success, some of those suggestions just didn’t feel “like me.” Not to mention, I kept seeming to Hit walls where things just didn’t work.

Was it me, or, was there something I wasn’t getting?

Luckily, I stepped back one day and said out loud, “Ok, so clearly something isn’t working. What am I not seeing and what do I need to know?”

Almost instantly, strange things began to happen; small synchronicities, insights, and learning. At last, new opportunities started to emerge.

So what went wrong?

First, I was trying to fit a mold. By trying to follow the developmental patterns of others, I was trying to find success through sameness – by being similar to others.

Second, things weren’t flowing. Trying to pour myself into this mold of sameness was taking great effort. In other words, rather than flowing smoothly, it required effort that was only exhausting and draining. Ever heard of the phrase, “force vs. flow?” Well, when you are “doing you,” things will flow. (And P.S., flow does not mean we do nothing. In fact, flow is a very active and creative process.)

Third, I was trying to make it work. We all have challenges that require courage and perseverance, but there’s a fine line between recognizing when we need to overcome a difficult challenge and when we’re starting to beat our heads against the wall. You’ve probably heard the expression that says the true definition of insanity is when we keep doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting a different result. At some point, we have to ask if perseverance is needed, or, if perhaps we need to take a step back long enough to stop banging our head against the wall – and I have done plenty of head-banging in my days, believe me!

Tip #1:

To truly “Do You,” you can’t follow a mold. The Divine does not create from a mold. Yes, your path may be similar to others, but it will also always be uniquely for and about you. Look for your niche. Look for what makes you unique. Embrace it and do it! Not to mention, when we all try to be the same, we create “competition:” Divine works in a state of cooperation, not competition. So I assure you, when you embrace your unique side and do it your way, there is no mold. You are forging a path where no one has gone before. Be bold, be brave, and be you. No one can tell you you’re doing it wrong if you are doing you.

Assignment #1: Ask yourself if you are trying to emulate or be like someone else. If so who and why? What is it they have that you crave and why?

Tip 2:

To truly “Do You,” you must allow flow to carry you where you need to go. As I stated, flow does not mean you are not working. We must apply action and energy, but it should be creative, fun, exciting, and something you are passionate about – even if it’s hard. When you are in flow, doors should be opening and insights coming at you. This does not mean it won’t be challenging. It may even test you and stretch your limits. But, when these times occur, there will still be an innate urge to overcome them so that you can keep moving towards your goal.

Assignment #2: If you are emulating and admiring someone else and trying to be like them, then what parts of that emulation are not working for you? Can you figure out a new way to do what they are doing but with your own unique twist and style? If it isn’t flowing, then go back to the drawing board and look for what you need to bring to the table.

Tip 3:

To truly “Do You,” develop the ability to discern between insanity and perseverance. If you keep following the same process over and over again and you keep meeting with failure, then step back and surrender to the idea that what you are trying to do may not be in your best interest – at the moment! At first glance, this is scary. It feels like “giving up,” but you are not giving up – you are simply “allowing” something new to be seen. You can not see new opportunities or options when you are banging your head against a wall, repeating the same process over and over again and making no progress.

Assignment #3: What isn’t working in your process right now? What walls do you keep hitting? Where are your biggest frustrations coming from? Write them down!

Assignment #4: Ask for spiritual guidance regarding this wall. Pray, journal, meditate, and ask for signs or assistance. Most likely there is something else you need to be doing so set aside what you are doing and allow something else to move in. Then see where this takes you!

Want to have greater success, joy, creativity, and happiness? Then first have the courage to “Do You!”

Cheers & Wellness,

Carol
